7 Swords
Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005This movie is based on a novel titled ‘Seven swordsmen from Mountain Tian’ tells the story during Ancient China. A new dynasty have taken power and as an effort to reduce revolts, they implemented a ban on all martial arts and anyone who practices martial arts are punishable by death. An ex-military officer named Fire-Wind sees this as his road to wealth since each head any martial artist can be exchange for money and started killing all martial artists including women or children.
Fu, a retired interrogator cum torturer feels a moral obligation to stop this massacre and tried to save Martial Village by enlisting the help of Master Shadow-Glow, a master sword smith from mystical Heaven Mountain. Instead, Shadow-Glow sent all five of his students to help Fu. Armed with Shadow-Glow’s 7 unique swords, Fu and his team of swordsmen battles the army of Fire-Wind.
This movie sucks. I mean it. I hate it soo much. Maybe because I don’t know Mandarin. Or maybe due to the idiot who wrote the subtitle. But feels like somebody tampered with the movie by cutting important scenes. I don’t understand anything. Characters were too shallow and were introduced too fast. The heroes are all the strong, boring and silent type. Plus, all of them came with the tortured soul look which makes this movie even more boring. This movie runs about 2 hour 20 minutes and even at the end, there’s too much loose ends that left audience confused and scratching our heads. I had to go look at the website to get the name of the master sword smith. The swords were supposed to be the main attraction but little were told about them. Even the sword fight scene were too fast, dark and blurry for anyone to see it’s unique ability.
There’s a scene where the duke of stupid moustache found a sword buried in the desert. This scene turns out to have no connection whatsoever to the story. Damn
